Karachi — 22 November 2025: The Orthopedic Department at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) Karachi hosted a Pre‑ICON workshop titled “Comprehensive Understanding of the Principles of Clubfoot: From Diagnosis and Casting to Bracing and Follow‑Up Care” on Saturday, 22 November 2025. The hands‑on session included demonstrations of casting techniques and percutaneous tenotomy for clubfeet.
The workshop focused on practical, evidence‑based management of clubfoot using the Ponseti method. Sessions covered early diagnosis, serial casting, tenotomy, bracing protocols and long‑term follow‑up. Senior pediatric orthopedic faculty from Karachi shared clinical experience and case discussions, while participants practiced casting and tenotomy techniques under expert supervision.
Since 2011, IHHN’s Pehla Qadam programme has provided structured, stepwise clubfoot care across the network. Operating from seven centres nationwide, the initiative has successfully treated thousands of children, delivering early intervention and long‑term support to affected families.
The workshop was attended by orthopedic residents, registrars, pediatric surgery residents and physiotherapists. The interactive format encouraged active participation, case presentations and skill practice — strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration in clubfoot care.
The day also marked a major milestone for the Orthopedic Department: the formal start of the FCPS Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery training programme at IHHN Karachi Campus. This new fellowship will offer young orthopedic surgeons advanced, hands‑on training in pediatric orthopedics and is expected to raise the standard of surgical care for children.
By combining hands‑on workshops with formal postgraduate training, IHHN aims to expand capacity for high‑quality pediatric orthopedic care and ensure more children
