Enhancing Clinical Ethics: IHHN’s Pre-ICON 2026 Workshop on Islamic Bioethics in Clinical Practice

The Indus Hospital, Jubilee Town, Lahore, held a focused workshop titled “Islamic Bioethics in Clinical Practice: A Tool for Moral Reasoning” on December 9, 2025. The session aimed to strengthen healthcare professionals’ ability to address ethically complex clinical situations using an Islamic bioethics framework.

Participants learned to identify key ethical issues, analyze end-of-life and abortion cases, and make balanced recommendations that align with medical, legal, and religious principles. The workshop also emphasized clear and compassionate communication with patients and families during sensitive decision-making.

Expert facilitators included Ms. Sarosh Saleem, HOD Bioethics Department, Shalamar Medical & Dental College, Ms. Amna Farooq, Senior Demonstrator Bioethics Department, Shalamar Medical & Dental College, and Dr. Hana Arbab, Consultant Pediatric Surgery – IHHN, who guided attendees through practical exercises and real-case discussions.

As a PRE-ICON 2026 initiative, the workshop reflects IHHN’s continued commitment to promoting ethical, patient-centered care and equipping clinicians with tools for confident and principled decision-making.
