A comprehensive Managing Diabetic Foot workshop was conducted on December 2 at Dr. Skandar Ali Mandhro Civil Hospital Badin, managed by the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), as part of the Pre-ICON 2026 activities. The session aimed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare teams in diabetic foot management to ensure improved patient care and early intervention for foot-related complications.
The workshop was facilitated by senior experts including Prof. Muhammad Yakoob Ahmedani, Consultant Diabetologist & Head, Foot Care Service, IHHN; Dr. Asifa Jamali, Consultant Medicine & Endocrinologist, Badin Campus; Dr. Sumerah Jabeen, Consultant Endocrinologist & Head, Diabetes & Endocrinology Center, IHHN; and Mr. Zia-ul-Haq, Footcare Assistant, IHHN. The faculty provided in-depth guidance on clinical assessment, preventive strategies, and evidence-based management approaches for diabetic foot conditions.
The training covered essential topics such as diabetic foot assessment, Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) measurement, safe callus removal techniques, and the principles of antibiotic stewardship. Participants also engaged in hands-on practice sessions, allowing healthcare staff from multiple departments to build confidence and enhance their clinical competencies.
The activity received excellent feedback from the participants, who appreciated the practical learning and expert-led demonstrations. This initiative is expected to significantly strengthen diabetic foot management services in the region and reflects IHHN’s ongoing commitment to advancing clinical excellence through continuous professional development.
