Feel, Heal & Re-Connect: Caring for the Carers – Healing in Heart

Recognizing the growing emotional and psychological challenges faced by healthcare workers, the Psychosocial Department at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) organized a reflective and experiential workshop titled “Feel, Heal & Re-Connect: Caring for the Carers – Healing in Heart” on December 10, 2025. The session was designed exclusively for healthcare staff and brought together 15 participants.

Healthcare professionals continue to serve on the frontlines of both health crises and climate-related emergencies. Rising temperatures, resource constraints, and disaster-related pressures significantly contribute to stress, burnout, empathy fatigue, anger, and interpersonal challenges within healthcare settings. This workshop aimed to address these challenges by promoting emotional well-being, resilience, and stronger interpersonal connections through creative and evidence-based practices.

The workshop focused on key learning objectives, including understanding the psychological impacts of climate change, recognizing personal stressors and emotional triggers, strengthening interpersonal relationships, and developing individual and collective coping strategies for resilience.

Key Highlights

Participants engaged in a series of interactive and reflective activities, including:
Mindfulness Meditation: A guided grounding exercise to enhance self-awareness and emotional clarity
Pottery Making: A hands-on creative activity encouraging sensory grounding and emotional expression
Mind Mapping: A reflective exercise to identify stressors, available resources, and coping strategies
My Inner Weather: A self-reflective activity where participants mapped their emotional states using weather metaphors to better understand emotional triggers and build self-compassion
Group Sharing Circle: A safe space for participants to share experiences, insights, and mutual support

Expected Outcomes

The session aimed to:
Increase awareness of climate-related and work-related mental health stressors
