Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) Badin Campus successfully hosted a specialized workshop on “Snake Bite: Emergency Management and Prevention”. The workshop brought together healthcare professionals to strengthen their knowledge and skills in managing snake bite emergencies.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills to manage snake bite cases effectively. By the end of the session, participants gained the ability to understand the epidemiology and different types of snake bites, recognize early signs and symptoms of venomous and non-venomous bites, and perform appropriate first aid while avoiding harmful practices. They also learned to classify snake bites based on clinical presentation and type of envenomation, apply emergency room protocols including stabilization, antivenom administration, and supportive care, and outline inpatient management, monitoring, and management of complications.
In addition, the session emphasized prevention strategies for communities and healthcare settings and highlighted the importance of follow-up care and patient education to improve long-term outcomes.
The workshop was conducted by a team of experienced physicians from IHHN Badin, including Dr. Shahnawaz Karim, FCPS (Med), Consultant Physician and HoD Internal Medicine; Dr. Shoaib Ahmed, FCPS (Med), Senior Registrar, Internal Medicine; and Dr. Wikram, FCPS (Med), Senior Registrar, Internal Medicine.
The interactive session combined theoretical knowledge with practical demonstrations, ensuring participants were well-prepared to respond to snake bite emergencies with confidence and efficiency.
