A one-day professional Pre-ICON 2026 workshop titled “Zakat Collection and Utilization Model in Healthcare through Shariah-Compliant Practices” was successfully held on December 24, 2025, at Indus Hospital & Health Network, Korangi. The workshop aimed to strengthen understanding and implementation of Shariah-compliant Zakat systems in healthcare institutions, highlighting transparency, accountability, and ethical governance.
More than 50 Participants were introduced to the Indus Hospital Zakat Model, with practical insights into beneficiary assessment, Wakala and Tamleek mechanisms, documentation, donor transparency, and financial management within healthcare settings. Expert-led sessions enabled attendees to understand how Zakat can be responsibly utilized to ensure equitable access to healthcare while remaining fully compliant with Islamic jurisprudence.
The workshop was facilitated by leading scholars and professionals, including Mufti Syed Hussain Ahmed, Mufti Muhammad Aslam, Mufti Ibrahim Essa, and Mr. Rehan Kashif, whose combined expertise bridged religious, financial, and operational perspectives.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Naveed Ahmed Sab (DGM Operations) emphasized the transformative role of a structured Zakat system in delivering dignified healthcare. Chief Guest Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President and Founder of IHHN, highlighted Zakat as a powerful instrument of social justice and praised the Indus Hospital model as a benchmark for institutions nationwide.
The workshop concluded with a strong commitment from participants to apply learned principles within their organizations, reinforcing Zakat’s role as a sustainable and ethical support system for healthcare services
