Interventional Pulmonology Seminar – Pre-icon 2026

Karachi, January 3, 2026 — Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) hosted an Interventional Pulmonology Seminar at The Indus Hospital, Karachi, as a pre-ICON 2026 academic event, bringing together leading experts to discuss advancements and future directions in the field.

The seminar featured Professor Ali Musani as the guest speaker, who delivered an insightful talk titled “Interventional Pulmonology: Frontiers and Potential in Pakistan.” Prof. Musani is a globally recognized leader in Interventional Pulmonology and currently serves as Division Chief of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine and Director, Western Region Interventional Pulmonology at Northwell Health, New York. He is also the Chair of the Interventional Pulmonology Institute, Istanbul (WABII), a past president of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, and Chair-Elect of the World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.

In the second half of the seminar, Prof. Musani, along with Dr. Mujahid Hussain, Consultant Pulmonologist at Indus Hospital, performed the first two pleuroscopy procedures at the institution—marking a significant milestone in advancing interventional pulmonology services at IHHN.

The academic program also featured presentations by distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Moiz Salahuddin of Aga Khan University Hospital, who spoke on “Ultrasound: The Backbone in Interventional Pulmonology.” Dr. Sajeer Bhura from Indus Hospital discussed the management of central airway obstruction, while Dr. Mujahid Hussain of Indus Hospital presented on the role of pleuroscopy in the diagnosis and management of pleural diseases.*
