PICC Line Insertion in Neonates Workshop Held at IHHN Sheikh Saeed Memorial Campus

Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) successfully conducted a hands-on workshop titled “PICC Line Insertion in Neonates” at the Seminar Room, Sheikh Saeed Memorial (SSM) Campus, Korangi. The workshop was attended by healthcare professionals from the Neonatology Department.

The session was designed to enhance participants’ clinical skills and understanding of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) line insertion in neonatal patients. Through interactive discussions and practical demonstrations, participants learned about the indications and contraindications of PICC lines, identification of suitable veins, accurate measurement of catheter length, and the importance of preparing and maintaining a sterile field. The workshop also covered the step-by-step procedure to ensure safe and effective PICC line insertion.

By the end of the session, participants demonstrated improved confidence and competence in performing the procedure, reinforcing best practices in neonatal care.

The workshop was led by experienced neonatologists from IHHN, including Dr. Naila Nizami, Head of Department & Consultant Neonatologist, along with Dr. Muzaffar Saleem and Dr. Nasir Zia, Consultant Neonatologists, Neonatology Department, IHHN SSM Campus, Karachi.

IHHN continues to organize capacity-building initiatives and skill-based training programs to strengthen clinical excellence and improve patient outcomes, particularly in specialized areas such as neonatal care.
