Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) organized a pre-ICON interactive workshop titled “Blood and Genes Unlocked: Interactive Learning in Haematology and Cytogenetics” at the Transfusion Hall, Blood Center, Korangi Campus. The workshop brought together laboratory professionals and trainees for an engaging learning experience in haematology and cytogenetics.
The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of core principles in haematology, immunohematology, and cytogenetics, with a strong focus on practical application in laboratory settings. Through simplified, step-by-step approaches, participants were guided on how to analyze laboratory data and correlate test results with relevant clinical conditions.
Key learning objectives included interpreting a wide range of haematology and immunohematology tests, understanding the role of cytogenetic analysis in diagnosis and prognosis, and applying best practices for quality control and troubleshooting in laboratory testing. The session also highlighted how cytogenetic findings contribute to effective treatment planning and patient management.
By the end of the workshop, participants gained enhanced confidence and hands-on exposure to both basic and advanced haematological test interpretation, enabling them to better link laboratory results with clinical outcomes.
The workshop was facilitated by a distinguished panel of experts from IHHN’s Clinical Laboratories, including Dr. Fatima Meraj, Dr. Zulqarnain Imran, Dr. Syed Jawad Hassan, Dr. Neelum Mansoor, Dr. Noreen Shakeel, and Dr. Hamza Khan. Their expertise and interactive teaching approach played a key role in making the session informative and impactful.
Indus Hospital & Health Network remains committed to continuous professional development and capacity building through such academic initiatives, aimed at strengthening laboratory services and improving patient care.
