Decoding Tuberculous Diagnosis: From Bench to Bedside – A Hands-On Workshop

Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) conducted a hands-on workshop titled “Decoding Tuberculous Diagnosis: From Bench to Bedside” on January 21, 2026, at the Blood Transfusion Hall, IHHN Korangi Campus, Karachi. The workshop was designed to strengthen the diagnostic capabilities of healthcare professionals by bridging laboratory findings with real-world clinical practice.

The session focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of the strengths and limitations of various tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic methods. Through interactive discussions and case-based learning, attendees explored how to accurately interpret laboratory results in alignment with clinical presentations, enabling timely and precise diagnosis of TB across diverse healthcare settings.

A key emphasis of the workshop was the practical application of diagnostic strategies. Participants were guided on selecting appropriate diagnostic tools and approaches based on patient presentation and resource availability, reinforcing evidence-based decision-making in TB management.

By the end of the workshop, participants developed improved competency in applying TB diagnostic strategies, interpreting complex laboratory data, and making informed clinical decisions. The hands-on nature of the session significantly enhanced their ability to diagnose and manage tuberculosis effectively in varied clinical environments.

The workshop was facilitated by a panel of experienced specialists from IHHN, including Dr. Samreen Sarfaraz, Chair Infection Control and Consultant Infectious Disease; Dr. Sabiha Anis, Consultant Immunologist; Dr. Nazia Khurshid, Chair Clinical Laboratories and Consultant Microbiologist; Dr. Quratulain Shaikh, Consultant Infectious Diseases; and Dr. Aamir Kazi, Consultant Infectious Diseases. Their expertise and practical insights were central to the success of the workshop.
