From Clinics to Clicks: Climate-Smart, People-First Healthcare

Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) hosted an interactive workshop titled “From Clinics to Clicks: Climate-Smart, People-First Healthcare” on January 27, 2026, at the Transfusion Hall, Blood Center, IHHN Korangi, Karachi. The session brought together healthcare professionals to explore the intersection of digital health, sustainability, and equitable care delivery in the face of climate challenges.

The workshop focused on understanding the role of digital health in promoting environmentally sustainable healthcare systems. Participants examined how virtual care models and telehealth services can significantly reduce carbon emissions, minimize medical waste, and improve access to care, particularly for communities affected by climate-related disruptions.

A key component of the session was the discussion on ethical and equity considerations in digital health. Facilitators highlighted challenges related to access, data privacy, and fairness in deploying digital tools, encouraging participants to apply ethical frameworks that ensure people-first and inclusive healthcare solutions. Through role-play and scenario-based exercises, attendees engaged in designing resilient healthcare responses tailored to climate-impacted communities.

Panel discussions and collaborative group activities enabled participants to share insights, identify barriers to climate-health integration, and work collectively toward practical, actionable breakthroughs. These interactions fostered meaningful dialogue on translating challenges into sustainable solutions within local healthcare contexts.

By the end of the workshop, participants gained increased awareness of climate-smart healthcare practices and strengthened their problem-solving skills through hands-on exercises. The group concluded the session with shared strategies and commitments aimed at advancing sustainable, ethical, and equitable healthcare delivery through digital innovation.

The workshop was facilitated by a multidisciplinary panel of experts, including Dr. Naveed, Team Lead Telehealth at IHHN; Dr. Iffat Zafar Agha, COO of Sehat Kahani; Dr. Nida Shamsi, Head of Department Family Medicine at IHHN; and Family Medicine specialists Dr. Farhana Rahman, Dr. Samra Jamil, Dr. Tania Najeeb, and Dr. Afsheen Faraz. Their expertise and practical insights played a central role in making the workshop engaging and impactful.
