Karachi, Pakistan – February 12 2026: A practical skills workshop titled “Hands-on Training in Knotting, Suturing, Bowel & Vascular Anastomosis” was conducted at the Training Room, 4th Floor, Old Building, Indus University Hospital. The session provided surgical trainees and practitioners with an opportunity to strengthen their core operative skills through structured, supervised practice.
The workshop focused on essential open surgical techniques, beginning with proper surgical knotting and suturing methods. Participants were guided through the fundamental principles of gastrointestinal anastomosis and practiced performing hand-sewn bowel anastomosis. The session also included training in stapled anastomosis using standard surgical stapling devices, ensuring familiarity with commonly used operative tools.
In addition, participants explored the basic principles of vascular anastomosis, emphasizing appropriate tissue handling, precision, and safety. Through hands-on demonstrations and supervised practice, attendees enhanced their technical confidence and competency in performing critical surgical procedures.
By the end of the workshop, participants had gained valuable hands-on experience in essential open surgical skills, enabling safer and more effective performance of suturing and anastomosis techniques in the operating room.
