The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) is organizing the sixth biennial scientific conference – ICON 2022. The conference is being held at the Korangi Campus from January 20-23, 2022. More than 100 pre-conference workshops, over 40 scientific sessions, and three plenary sessions are also being held at various locations of IHHN.
The Family Medicine department conducted their session on Day Three of ICON 2022, with the title of their talks as “Lifestyle Medicine.” The list of speakers includes Dr. Sadaf Mustafa, Good Samaritan Hospital & Medstar Union Memorial Hospital, USA; Dr. Muhammad Tarique Arain, Dow University of Health Sciences; Professor Nasir Shah, College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan; and Dr. Sobia Aftab, Institute of Clinical Psychology, University of Karachi. The session was moderated by Dr. Mehwish Mehmood, IHHN, who provided all attendees with a warm welcome and an overview of the session that was to be taking place.
The topics covered a wide range of subjects, including “Social Relationship and Mental Wellbeing,” ultimately designed to improve everyday life and for individuals to maximize their potential by practicing healthy and productive habits. They also addressed severe societal issues, with the “Substance Use Disorder” session discussing the alarming cases of everyday people being caught in this deadly situation. In addition, it preached better-sleeping practices with the “Sleep Well, Be Well” topic as it advocated the importance of sleep on a person’s well-being.
