With over 35 years as a Respiratory Physician, he led the Chest Medicine Unit at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi, providing top-tier medical care to diverse patients. Throughout his career, he significantly contributed to medical progress in Pakistan, teaching respiratory medicine at Sindh Medical College for over 14 years. Over 200 postgraduates he trained received diplomas in Chest Diseases and Tuberculosis (DTCD), becoming Members of the College of Physicians & Surgeons (M.C.P.S), while 15 obtained Pulmonology fellowships, and 2 earned M.D. degrees in Pulmonology. Pioneering non-invasive ventilation, chest ultrasound, pleuroscopy, and medical thoracoscopy, he made groundbreaking strides. Serving as the interim dean at JPMC in 2016 and as Secretary for the faculty of Chest Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan, he played a key role in curriculum development. Spearheading a state-of-the-art respiratory unit at JPMC, he oversaw its operations, including staffing, training, research, and fundraising, securing Rs. 1 billion (USD 75 Million) in donations. Active in the Pakistan Chest Society, he served as President of its National and Sindh Chapters, organizing awareness campaigns and establishing a widely circulated medical journal. His dedication to advancing medical education and innovations in Pakistan reflects his lifelong commitment to the field. |
