Dr. Muhammad Atif Waqar
Muhammad Atif Waqar, MD, is an Assistant Professor and the founding chief of the Section of Palliative Medicine in the Department of Oncology at the Aga Khan University (AKU), Karachi, Pakistan. He is also the Program Director for the post-graduate Palliative Medicine fellowship at AKU. Dr. Waqar is board certification in Internal Medicine, Hospice/Palliative Medicine, and Geriatric Medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine and its subspecialties. Realizing the dire need for palliative care services in Pakistan, Dr. Waqar relocated to Pakistan to set up the city’s first multidisciplinary palliative care service at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi. He will be presenting his work on Day 1 of ICON 2022 at the Clinical Ethics Session, “Aspects of Communication, Policies & Religion - Cultural Factors in Pediatrics. “
