Dr. Saeed Akhtar
Former President and CEO of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI), Dr. Saeed Akhtar MD, MPH, FACS, is a Professor of Urology. Dr. Akhter is a Diplomat American Board of Urology, Fellow College of Surgeons, and holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Yale University, USA. He pursued training in Urology and Transplant at Maimonides Medical Center and Down State University New York, and the University of Minnesota. Before returning to Pakistan, Dr. Akhter chaired the Department of Urology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas. He has also served as a Visiting Professor in Transplant Surgery at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA. He heads several professional organizations, including Life Savers Foundation Pakistan as its CEO. He has served with Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, as Director of Transplant Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Surgery. His professional memberships include the American Urological Association, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and The Transplant Society. Dr. Akhtar has extensive experience in education and research and has 43 publications related to various medical areas. Dr. Akhter has received 29 prestigious awards for his services in the medical field, and he was awarded for bringing excellence to the field of research and education in Pakistan. He was honored with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan.
