Professor Anna Mia Ekström
Currently serving as a Clinical Professor in Infectious Diseases at Karolinska Institutet (KI) and Venhälsan, Södersjukhuset, Sweden and as the research group leader for Global and Sexual Health (GIoSH) at KI, Professor Ekström has a prolific career in infectious diseases and global public health. Professor Ekström is an expert member of Sweden’s scientific reference group for access to COVID-19 vaccines and leader of KI’s task force on COVID-19 and public health analyzing the pandemic including vaccine-related aspects in Sweden. She also serves as the KI’s resource group leader on COVID-19 and global health, coordinating all international health-related research aspects of COVID-19, including global vaccine distribution. In addition, she is an expert member of the independent allocation of Vaccines Group (IAVG) for COVID-19 vaccines with the World Health Organization. Impressively, Professor Ekström has over 125 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals to her name and has acquired over 75 Million SEK in external research grants.
