Professor Lucille H Blumberg
Professor Blumberg is currently a Consultant at Right to Care, focusing on responding to health emergencies in South Africa and the region. Professor Blumberg has demonstrated excellent leadership in early intervention, detection, control, and surveillance of infectious disease outbreaks for over two decades and has over 150 research publications. She served as the Deputy Director at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases of the National Health Laboratory Service and as founding head of the Public Health Surveillance and Response Division. She is currently a medical consultant to the Division for Outbreak Preparedness and Response and the Centre for Emerging, Zoonotic and Parasitic Diseases. Impressively, Professor Blumberg is the Vice-Chair of World Health Organization’s Committee for Review of the International Health Regulations during COVID-19 and is a Scientific Advisory Group Member of WHO, Neglected Tropical Diseases and WHO, Blueprint for Research and Development for Counter Measures for Emerging Diseases.
