Dr. Aisha Malik
Dr. Aisha Y Malik started her professional career as a hematologist, which after 15 years took a different trajectory albeit associated with medicine/medical practice. After her D.Phil from Ethox Centre, she teaches and conducts research. Her teaching commitments include medical ethics (clinical and research), Islamic (applied medical) ethics, and Bioethics. Her research interests are mainly empirical ethics, focusing on clinical decision-making, transcultural application of ethics guidelines, and concepts of justice and equity. Her philosophical outlook is grounded in Virtue Ethics, emphasizing phronesis (practical wisdom), Kantian/neo-Kantian ethics, and Particularism. She will be presenting her work on Day 1 of ICON 2022 at the Clinical Ethics Session, “Aspects of Communication, Policies & Religion - Cultural Factors in Pediatrics. “
